{"id":1565,"date":"2018-11-20T18:46:43","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T23:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bayfieldfair.ca\/?p=1565"},"modified":"2020-08-05T15:54:38","modified_gmt":"2020-08-05T20:54:38","slug":"bayfield-ag-society-upcoming-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bayfieldfair.ca\/?p=1565","title":{"rendered":"Bayfield Ag Society upcoming events"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-803761688951835496\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal  \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<div>A Christmas tradition for many in Bayfield is choosing a fresh evergreen wreath made by the Bayfield Agricultural Society.\u00a0 A lot of local trees were trimmed of their boughs to make dozens and dozens of wreaths and swags\/tails.\u00a0 This past weekend the bulk of them were sold; however, there are a couple of swags left and some regular sized wreaths longing for homes.\u00a0 They can be sold with a bow or without.\u00a0 If anyone missed picking up their wreaths, they can be ordered from Stephen at 226-441-2016 until they are sold out.\u00a0 There were some lighted evergreen stars available and a few bare grapevine wreath frames.\u00a0 All the money goes to assist with the costs of hiring children\u2019s entertainment during the fair.\u00a0 Each year different entertainers are brought into the Bayfield community to add novelty to the fair experience.\u00a0 Last year\u2019s money from the wreaths helped with the expenses of bringing in Miss T the Bubble Queen.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Bayfield Ag Society would like to send a community invitation to its Annual General Meeting on Friday November 23.\u00a0 Annual Meetings are mandatory where the Society\u2019s executive shows accountability to its members.\u00a0 It will present its reports starting with the President and Secretary and from its over 20 committees.\u00a0 It gives the members a true picture of what has happened over the year.\u00a0 In addition a financial statement is presented and Directors and Convenors are elected.\u00a0 The Bayfield Ag Society starts the evening off with a potluck supper starting at 6 pm. in the basement of St. Andrew\u2019s United Church.\u00a0 A speaker will be introduced at 7:30 and the meeting, which usually lasts about an hours, begins at 8 pm.\u00a0 Those attending can come for the supper, the speaker, and\/or the meeting.\u00a0 There are many who have said over the years that they could not be part of the Ag Society because they don\u2019t farm.\u00a0 Wendell\u00a0 Berry stated, \u201c<em>Eating is an agricultural act<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 His writings challenge consumers to direct where we want our food system to move.\u00a0 The Ag Society includes the producers as well as all the intermediary processors to the consumer.\u00a0 We need people in all stages of the food system.\u00a0 The community is sincerely welcome to attend the AGM and consider being a part of an organization which has a long history, has a rich cultural tradition within the community, and continues to be relevant in our current world.\u00a0 Do consider how you can help this tradition to flourish.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"conversation-footer\" class=\"spacer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Christmas tradition for many in Bayfield is choosing a fresh evergreen wreath made by the Bayfield Agricultural Society.\u00a0 A lot of local trees were trimmed of their boughs to make dozens and dozens of wreaths and swags\/tails.\u00a0 This past weekend the bulk of them were sold;
