{"id":513,"date":"2014-08-12T13:50:37","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T18:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bayfieldfallfair.ca\/?p=513"},"modified":"2014-08-13T16:54:01","modified_gmt":"2014-08-13T21:54:01","slug":"supporting-your-local-fair-is-important","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bayfieldfair.ca\/?p=513","title":{"rendered":"Supporting Your Local Fair is Important"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Fairs are an event which gathers a community together to be entertained, see the local people compete, and learn something about the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The Ag Society has always appreciated the support of the local community.\u00a0 Support might be through volunteers, finances, attendance, or entering events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The fair can always use volunteers.\u00a0 If you wish to support by volunteering, check the website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bayfieldfallfair.ca\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">www.bayfieldfair.ca<\/span><\/a> to see what opportunities there are.\u00a0 This year the Huron County Junior Farmers are holding three competitions for people.\u00a0 The Huron Chuckers are demonstrating their ax and knife throwing skills.\u00a0 These are a couple of the new volunteer groups this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">All events require donations to cover the costs of the activities.\u00a0 The expenses of last year approached $50 000.\u00a0 The fair has been blessed to have many businesses who have supported the programs put on by the fair.\u00a0 The cost of admittance does help to ensure that a broad range of entertainment is available.\u00a0 There is no gate fee on Sunday and people are asked to consider making a donation.\u00a0 Only a very few entertainment events have an additional fee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The easiest way to show support is by attending the events.\u00a0 The fair is a great event to invite guests to wander through.\u00a0 Many stories have emerged about the positive potential in some people\u2019s lives.\u00a0 Two years ago one mom told members that her autistic son smiled (which almost never happened) when he was playing in the grain box.\u00a0 Last year a young girl who was fearful of horses and after many lessons prior to the fair showed a horse with complete confidence.\u00a0 She was given a special award for her growth.\u00a0 Taking the time to attend one or more days is appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Finally the fair is also about the competition.\u00a0 Bring your biggest potato, your best jam, you favourite photo, your craft, your birdhouse, your best glad, or encourage young people to enter one of the many classes.\u00a0 Take part in one of the challenges put on by the Junior Farmers.\u00a0 Try the obstacle course race.\u00a0 There are so many people bringing in their horses, sheep, and dairy calves that it should be easy to bring over a few items grown in your garden or made in your house or shed.\u00a0 No one wants to be the only one in a competition.\u00a0 Start a new family tradition by bringing something to enter at the fair.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The Bayfield Agricultural Society welcomes and encourages the community\u2019s support in any form: volunteer, financial, attendance, or participation.\u00a0 The fair only improves with strong community support.\u00a0 Start by attending the Ribs and Music Fest on Friday night.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fairs are an event which gathers a community together to be entertained, see the local people compete, and learn something about the community.
