There is still lots of time to get exhibits ready for the 2024 Bayfield Fair coming up on the weekend of August 16-18 – always on the third weekend in August! This year’s Fair theme is “Farms, Food & Family”.
“Farms” will be represented well through their 4-H members who participate in the dairy and sheep competitions on the Saturday of the Fair, the horse shows on both Saturday and Sunday, and the farm product exhibits in the arena.
“Food” is always a big part of the Fair. Food is shown for competition and available for sale from any of the food trucks that will be present on the Saturday and Sunday of the Fair. And not to be missed, a Rib Dinner will be held on the Friday evening of the Fair.
“Family” events and activities are planned for times throughout the weekend. Examples include the Friday evening fireworks display, Saturday morning parade, music entertainment, animal shows, and many other entertainment options.
At the heart of the indoor Homecraft show are opportunities for all ages to enter art and photography, baking and canning, flowers and plants, fruits and vegetables, as well as handcrafted quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and woodworking. All entries are welcome and add to the wealth of exhibits that fairgoers look forward to seeing each year.
All of the entry categories and requirements can be viewed online in the 2024 Fair Book. Entries can also be completed online. A print version of the 2024 Fair Book is available at area libraries, garden centres, craft/sewing/quilt shops, art shops, and organizations.
All exhibitors are reminded to read the Fair Book carefully. It contains important information on entry rules and regulations, entry forms and deadlines, fees, special category requirements, judging criteria, prizes to be won, and much more.
There is no end of talent and skills in this community. Several first-time exhibitors at the 2023 Fair surprised themselves by going home with ribbons and prize winnings. The Bayfield Agricultural Society is issuing a challenge to everyone in the community to show their community spirit by entering at least one exhibit in this year’s Fair!
Be a Part of the Fair!
